Research

Research we have not done yet, described honestly

Industry reports are the easiest place on a vendor site to invent a number, and the hardest place to withdraw one. Nothing below reports a finding, because nothing below has been measured.

The library

What is planned, and what it will contain

Each entry states the question, the population and the method. When a study is run, the methodology will be published alongside the result so a reader can decide what the number is worth — which is the part most benchmark reports leave out.

Placeholder — none of these assets has been written; the outlines below are statements of intent and no download exists yet. Replace with sourced, approved content before this page is made public.

  • Planned

    Nigerian AML operations benchmark

A planned survey of how compliance functions actually run: team shape, queue volumes, investigation effort and the controls institutions say they most want to strengthen.

Written for: Compliance leadership and executive sponsors

    What it will cover

    • Survey design and sampling approach, published alongside the results
    • Team structure and coverage by institution type and size band
    • Self-reported alert and investigation volumes, with the definitions used to collect them
    • Where respondents place their largest control gaps
  • Planned

    Alert-to-report conversion study

A planned methodological study on measuring detection effectiveness: what conversion metrics do and do not tell you, and how to compare across institutions without comparing incomparable things.

Written for: Monitoring leads, model owners and internal audit

    What it will cover

    • Definitions: what counts as an alert, an escalation and a report, and why the definitions decide the answer
    • Why aggregate conversion rates move with scenario mix rather than with quality
    • A per-scenario comparison method that survives differences in book composition
  • Planned

    Regulatory change digest

A planned periodic summary of published Nigerian AML/CFT and data protection developments, with links to the primary sources rather than paraphrases of them.

Written for: Compliance officers tracking obligations across several supervisors

    What it will cover

    • Publications and instruments issued in the period, with a link to each primary source
    • What changed, stated in the authority's own terms
    • An impact worksheet for assessing whether an institution's controls are affected

Registering interest tells us which of these to write first, and we will send it when it exists. We will not send you a benchmark figure we have not measured or a template we have not had reviewed — which is the reason this shelf is shorter than it could be.

In the meantime

Have data worth studying?

If your institution would take part in a survey on AML operations, the sample is the constraint on all of this. We would rather build it properly than publish an estimate.
